FFmpeg 4.4.1 for MythTV-next?
I am not volunteering to do the work, but is there
any chance to merge the newest FFmpeg tag
(4.4.1) to MythTV master for improved AV1
support? A (very) quick scan of the docs showed
a number of new deprecations, but no API
removals.

Thanks for your consideration.

Do you happen to know if there's been any changes in MediaCodec [lack
of] support for ATSC closed-captions? If so, that would also be very
nice to have.

I will volunteer to do the work. Thanks for letting me know that the new
release just came out. The last version I merged just 8 days before the
next release came out, which was bad timing.

I will point out that the FFmpeg project has
discussed a 4.5 (or more likely a 5.0) release
towards the end of December (so, RSN).

However, it will (apparently) be API breaking
(for at least some APIs) so I would not be
surprised if it would require more work
than desired in a short timeframe for the
MythTV v32 release targets of early next
year to make the Ubuntu LTS dates.

Sorry, no idea, and a quick skim of the release
notes did not mention anything that seemed
related.

btw, my apologies for all the dev work this
has caused, although, in my defense, much
of the work would have been necessary at
some point in the future anyway (at least
that is the rationalization I am going to go
with at the moment).

Thanks for all the efforts.
