New garbled audio after the most recent 2 commits
With 410b405 my F30 box is giving garbled audio with any of the settings
I've tried. It was OK at 48b2631 The kernel has just been upgraded
too, to 5.3.16-200

-v audio reports AOBase: Pause 0, around every 40 ms

I reverted to the previous myth build and the noise persisted. It seems
OK with 5.3.15-200. Still getting the Pause: 0 spam, though. I'll try
the latest myth build tomorrow.

410b405 worked under 5.3.15-200 but audio is still broken for me under
5.3.16-200, despite this morning's upgrade of several alsa packages.

John,
FYI
In my case moving from 5.4.2->5.4.3 kernel broke sound on legacy nvidia systems with HDMI audio.
Interesting is that exactly the same legacy nvidia systems with SPDIF are ok.
Issue is 5.4.3 kernel regression.
Maybe in Your case 5.3.15->5.3.16 also has regressive commit which breaks 5.4.3?
Pls try to downgrade only kernel to 5.3.15 and see….

Greetings,

For 5.3.16 this is indeed a regression. Here's the bug report for Fedora 31:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1784839

The patch that is attached to the report will solve the problem when it is used to rebuild the kernel modules sound/hda and sound/pci/hda. (The fixes end up in sound/hda/snd-hda-core.ko.xz and sound/pci/hda/snd-hda-codec-hdmi.ko.xz respectively.)

Kind regards,

- Richard.
