Master: scheduled recordings fail to start
On Thursday 21 I installed a local build of

mythtv-31.Pre.101.g5439651a2b-100.el7.x86_64.rpm, upgrading from
mythtv-31.Pre.61.ga99d3e6d78-100.el7.x86_64.rpm

On Friday 22 I upgraded my kernel from 4.4.174.1.el7.elrepo.x86_64 to
4.4.175.1

Later on Friday I found that scheduled recordings had not started.
Attempts to restart any still being broadcast failed, but were still
marked as 'will record'

'Previously recorded' showed them as 'missed', and also showed several
recordings for Friday 1 *Mar* 2019 as 'missed' I deleted the shows
marked in red from that screen, after which current shows could be
restarted from the EPG. Scheduling still failed.

I have raised a flag at elrepo, because it looked as if reverting to
4.4.174 had worked, but this morning scheduled shows were missing.

I have now downgraded to the previous ga99d3e build of Myth and at
present it seems ok.

I see there have been more 'initialisation' commits since my problem
build, and maybe they have fixed it. I have e83b364 (current head) on
the fc28 box but have not yet done appropriate tests on that.

It's now 11:34 and a recording there, scheduled to start at 11:28, is
still showing 'will record'

Noticed same problem after some  recordings were not made.

I am also seeing missed (e.g. Record All +0 Missed) for some scheduled
recordings in Upcoming Recordings screen for future date/time at
v31-Pre-116-ge83b364931-dirty, which is current master (22 February 2019).

Reason is "This showing was not recorded because the master backend was
not running"

Built from source on Xubuntu 18.04.2, (4.18 HWE series kernel)

Reverting to v31-Pre-61-ga99d3e6d78 did NOT resolve it for me, even
after deleting a Recording rule. Program Guide still shows a recording
status, but attempting to edit Recording rule results in Recording rule
does not exist.

I reverted the fc28 build to 31pre65-6b402ca5 and a schedule created a
few minutes before start-of-show is working. If a recording has already
been marked as failing in some way I think you have to delete it in
Previously Recorded too.

Yes, you are correct, table oldrecorded needed cleaning up.

On v31-Pre-61-ga99d3e6d78

I cleaned up the oldrecorded table (by deleting the futures entries)
rebooted (just to make sure no caching was happening) that resolved my
issues.

I then rebuilt to current master v31-Pre-116-ge83b364931 and rebooted
again, it seems ok now.

The Previously recorded screen and Upcoming recording screen  are now
showing correctly.

I believe I have discovered a mistake in commit 9749e34efc. I need to
do some more testing and hopefully commit a fix in the morning.

Thank you, David. Both my boxes seem to be recording as intended now.
Not getting the benefits of newer commits, but 'panic' over :-)

Running el7 a99d3e, fc28 6b402ca, "ones I made earlier"

The problem is fixed now.
