OT but FAO JYA ?: Firefox on fire tv stick 4K
Apologies for posting this here, but I hope might be useful. I have
sent a brief report to the BBC Sounds site.

The problem relates to the bbc websites, not their apps. TTBOMK there
isn't one for Sounds for this device.

Accessing the iplayer via the Amazon/M$ Silk browser works, for both
iPlayer (TV) and Sounds (the radio channels)

Access via the Firefox browser app is fine for iPlayer, but Sounds is
visually OK and active, but mute. And there's no volume-control ikon.

Pressing the skip button sometimes gives the following log, which looks
implausible:

12-16 10:44:49.255 28879 28893 I chromium:
[INFO:HTMLMediaElement.cpp(2009)] Seek video at 1.54495e+09seconds

That time value looks similar to this:

12-16 11:05:35.527 875 875 I BluetoothAdapterProperties: checkMetrics
12-16 11:05:35.529 875 875 I BluetoothAdapterProperties: start_time
=1544875529872
12-16 11:05:35.529 875 875 I BluetoothAdapterProperties: cur_time =
1544958335527
12-16 11:05:35.529 875 875 I BluetoothAdapterProperties:
elapsedTime=82805655

and this might be significant too:

12-16 11:04:54.378 28839 28839 I chromium: [INFO:CONSOLE(0)] "The
resource
https://rmp.files.bbci.co.uk/playspace/js/play.bad1c1aa2f512b5be3df.js
was preloaded using link preload but not used within a few seconds from
the window's load event. Please make sure it wasn't preloaded for
nothing.", source: (0)

Regards,

John P

The BBC Sounds site works fine for me using Firefox on Android.
Sure, there is no volume control icon displayed, but the normal volume
up/down buttons work, for me at least.

No; I just tried it again. Initially the 'Seek video' came up as 0
seconds, but then reverted to around its earlier value. The remote
Volume control affects the TV's visual display but still no sound frpm
Sounds; all ok from iPlayer.

Firefox Version 3.1.2

More from the logs (typed in, copied from screen) :

AmazonSampleSource: Audio Codec mimetype=audio/mp4a-latm
Video Codec mimetype=x-unknown
Exoplayer doesn't support mime0type x-unknown

but the problem is in the Audio.

After more poking around in google I haave a feeling that this may be
DRM related. Hmm..

... but Sounds is ok in Firefox for Linux, so maybe not.

I had a response from the BBC:

Just to clarify here - I've been away from this list for a while and I was
referring to "generic" Firefox on Android (i.e. on my phone) as I thought
that this would be useful in this context.

I don't have the ability to do any testing on a FireStick, though I do have
a Xiaomi MiBox sitting here in a drawer doing nothing if I can use that to
help with any testing.
