We currently have almost 300 open PRs against the "master" branch in the
old lucene-solr repo.

I think we should close all of them (possibly with a comment pointing
people to the main branch in the lucene or solr repos).
I do not know if there is an automated way to do this, or a way to do this
without spamming everybody's email lists. If there is consensus on this
clean up work then I'll take some time to investigate how to get this done
and/or chat with ASF Infra about it.
