Hello everyone,
Last year the Apache Lucene committers voted to propose the spinning off
and creation of Solr as an Apache TLP (Top Level Project)[1]
The PMC has submitted an ASF board resolution, to be reviewed during the
upcoming board meeting on Wednesday, Feb 17 2021.
The Lucene PMC also decided to bootstrap the new project with the Lucene
PMC members, and intends to add the existing Lucene committers in the same
role for Apache Solr, once the proposal for its creation is accepted by the
board.
The process to add the non-PMC member committers will be completed shortly
after the project creation is announced, so all committers should look for
their notification email.
The Apache Lucene PMC is currently working on the next steps and will share
them with the community once we have more details. You can expect the
updates to be sent to the Lucene developers list until the migration is
complete.
