SUCCESS! [0:54:03.106188]

And installed the tarball as a 4 node cluster, created a collection and
added a document - success :)

Re: [VOTE] Release Lucene/Solr 8.6.1 RC2 [ In reply to ]
I have also run Ishan's performance test for creating collections on a
local 15 node cluster.

The time for creating additional collections is stable, and fixes the
performance degradation introduced in 8.6.0.

Re: [VOTE] Release Lucene/Solr 8.6.1 RC2 [ In reply to ]
Wow, it took 7 hours to run the tests on a 4 core machine! I think it is a
testament to how broken our tests are. I think re running the tests should
so the trick, unless it is another unlucky run.

also seems germane to the recent fixes.

To me, it seems like for the health of the project three or four committers
should be helping Erickson out with these tests. The flakiness is
frustrating.

reiterating, on the basis of my test results, -1 (non-binding)

Best,
Marcus

Re: [VOTE] Release Lucene/Solr 8.6.1 RC2 [ In reply to ]
That test method has a 1% fail rate on
http://fucit.org/solr-jenkins-reports/failure-report.html and shows up in
BadApple report emails and in fucit.org since a very long time ago (
http://fucit.org/solr-jenkins-reports/history-trend-of-recent-failures.html#series/org.apache.solr.cloud.autoscaling.ScheduledTriggerIntegrationTest.testScheduledTrigger).
Can you compare the output from your run vs the logs in fucit.org there and
see if this is similar? While we definitely should fix anything we might
have introduced/broken since 8.5.2 if this has been a lingering problem
from before that time we shouldn't hold up the improvements we do have to
chase down every flakey test either.

On the other hand if this looks different than what's on fucit, we need to
investigate.

I'm running again and testing that functionality. I'll report back in forty
minutes or 7 hours ????

Re: [VOTE] Release Lucene/Solr 8.6.1 RC2 [ In reply to ]
After multiple failures on the same machine and in the same branch, while
running the exact same command, the build passes:

SUCCESS! [1:42:58.835076]

This time it took almost two hours. Not sure why. I'll leave that to the
team.

The flakiness does scare me. However, the brave among us will be the
messenger. :)

Just in case helps your research:

SUCCESS! [1:42:58.835076]

Marcuss-MBP:lucene-solr marcussorealheis$ java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_265"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment Corretto-8.265.01.1 (build 1.8.0_265-b01)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM Corretto-8.265.01.1 (build 25.265-b01, mixed mode)

I want to also mention, I am now running this test on a couple very beefy
machines. It still failed on them multiple times.

+1 (non-binding) ???????????

Marcus

SUCCESS! [1:21:02.914140]

Tested out basic getting started w/ a 10 node cluster across a few local
machines and looked at the CHANGELOG. Everything LGTM on that front.
