cx18 module not loading
I have attempted to get a Hauppauge HTV-1600 card working in SimpyMepis. I
have generally followed the steps in the following how-to guides:

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_Obtain,_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers
and
http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Howto:Debian

I had to run "make config" and not configure the FireTV due to a compilation
error, then all seemed to work well until the command:
#modprobe cx18

which resulted in the error:

FATAL: Error inserting cx18
(/lib/modules/2.6.32-1-mepis64-smp/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx18/cx18.ko):
Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

Then I did:

dmesg |grep cx18
cx18: Unknown symbol ir_codes_hauppauge_new_table

So, I am at my limit here. I cannot find any similar errors through google.
Any suggestions on how I get this to work?

Thanks,

Jeff

Please report this to the linux-media@vger.kernel.org list. There has
been recent IR churn that you're running into.

I'll try to respond later today, but life's busy. Odd's are there are
some new IR modeuls that didn't get built.

Regards,
Andy

If you're impatient, you might want to try an older changeset. I've been using this one from 12/7/09 and have been happy with it:
http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb/archive/065f9e34e07b.tar.bz2

Not sure where to go from here?

Looks like you're missing the firmware. I think what you need is to download the following:
http://dl.ivtvdriver.org/ivtv/firmware/cx18-firmware.tar.gz
Untar and put the .fw files in /lib/firmware. FMI, see:
http://www.ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Cx18#Firmware

FWIW, I use the mythbuntu variant of ubuntu and these files were automatically installed for me. On mythbuntu/ubuntu, they come from the linux-firmware package.

HTH,
Helen
