cx18: HVR1600 FM radio driver?
I have an HVR1600 version with the FM tuner but have been unable to get
FM to work or find much out about getting it to work. I have the analog
and digital tuners working (under Ubuntu 11.10). I did find some info
that looked promising here:

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ivtv/devel/39819?search_string=cx18%20radio;#39819

but entering the commands that claim to make the radio work did not do
the trick. Perhaps I didn't do needed setup before what was shown.

I have mythtv but did not have ivtv-radio installed so installed
ivtv-utils. ivtv-radio gives some response but gets no signals and
outputs only static.

What needs to be done to get this working (if that has been figured out
yet)?

I haven't used FM in about a year. Somthing could have broken with the normal kernel churn.

What kernel version are you using (uname -a)? Also what analog tuner model does your HVR1600 have (v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --log-status )?

Re: cx18: HVR1600 FM radio driver? [ In reply to ]
I have never gotten the radio working despite repeated attempts and
trying commands that are reported to work by others. I get no signal
indication and just static for audio output. My original posts to the
list about this were in Feb 2012:

http://ivtvdriver.org/pipermail/ivtv-devel/2012-February/006802.html

I see that later releases of ubuntu contain newer versions of ivtv-utils
but that I have the latest (and only) version associated with Ubuntu 11.10.

Has this been fixed in later releases? Or is this such a low priority
it is likely to never be addressed? Or perhaps I am doing something wrong?

My card does report the FM tuner details with the command
V4l2-ctl -T -d /dev/radio0
and reports a cx18 radio tuner

I have tried the command ivtv-radio which appears to tune the radio but
give just noise and reports a signal strength of 0.

This list isn't very active. Should I be looking somewhere else for
answers?
