libvc unmask
Hi,

dev-libs/libvc have been masked for the bug #127757.
But I submit a patch for this issue and it have been put in the tree.
Is it possible to unmask it? (and also mail-client/mutt-vc-query app-misc/rolo)

Thanks

i am not very sure but i think that you must create a file:

/etc/portage/package.unmask

You must write in it the packages you want to unmask. Ah, be sure you write
the hole name (complete name). e.i:

mail-client/mutt-vc-query

I hope i have helped you. If it doesn't work i won't be able to help you
with this isue. Sorry.

It seems that dev-libs/libvc is hardmasked, in order to emerge it you
will have to unmask the package:
echo "=dev-libs/libvc-003-r1" >> /etc/portage/package.unmask

furthermore you need to set the testing keyword:
echo "dev-libs/libvc ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords

After those modifications you should be able to emerge the package.

For an in-depth understanding of the above process have a look at the
chapter "Mixing Software Branches" [1] within the gentoo handbook

regards
Chris

The problem is not security, the problem is that there is no maintainer
for rolo and it's deps. Maintainer should unmask the package but seems
that nobody of gentoo developers want to maintain it and I can
understand them ;). rolo has dead upstream as there was no new releases
for more then 3 years. This means that to fix any bug maintainer has to
look into sources, and fix it by himself... No joy if you are not using
this application.

Thus currently the best solution is to unmask it locally as it was
already told you and may be even copy
dev-libs/libvc
mail-client/mutt-vc-query
app-misc/rolo
into your local overlay, as if this situation persist rolo could be
removed from portage completely.

Peter.
