Yep! We only get a lot of emails on this list when someone gets paranoid
about login attempts with test and guest accounts or when someone flames
the gentoo devs :P

Is this a general security discussion list or a gentoo security updates
list? Shouldn't there be lots of discussions regarding firewall filter
rules, IDS, SELinux, etc?

I think the security-focus mailing lists are better suited for that kind
of subjects.
