Call for testers of xmms (especially UTF-8 / UTF-16 / UTF-16BE)
Upstream development of xmms has been very sluggish, so I've been trying
to manage their bugzilla as well as ours to squash out as many xmms bugs
as possible. xmms-1.2.10-r8 (package.mask) has been out for a while,
and I've been updating the patchset over the past week to add in many
bug fixes and better unicode support in the mpg123 plugin. Please test
this package out because I'd like to remove it from package.mask soon.
Please make sure to 'cvs update' before emerging it because I just
updated the patches about 5 minutes ago.

Please test this especially if you use UTF-8 locale and latin1
(ISO-8859-1) encoding or if you use UTF-16 or UTF-16BE.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Here I am getting a file size mismatch for the gentoo-patches file. I
did download the file directly from
http://dev.gentoo.org/~eradicator/xmms/xmms-1.2.10-gentoo-patches-2.1.1.tar.bz2

Where do you want the responses? Are you going to open a bug report or
do you prefer direct mails or something?

Regards,
Maurice.

P.S.: I had no problems (file size related or otherwise) while emerging it.

I'd like to know how it goes with xmms, so could you report here in
the mailing list too, please?

Weird... what's on the server matches the digest:
ca16b374a4ac2609f4277347405ac4a8
xmms-1.2.10-gentoo-patches-2.1.1.tar.bz2

I believe it was a temporary error. The digest is fine after a fresh rsync.

What exactly are we supposed to test? It seemed to be fine at first
glance (using LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.utf8 and the rest of my locale is
en_US.utf8), though I have trouble displaying any sort of cyrillic
filenames or tags in the playlist. But that could be just me, whatever I
did have working before never really satisfied me anyway.

or what exactly?
