Modular X going Stable
Greetings,

Donnie Berkholz (spyderous) is marking Modular X.Org 7.1 stable on
alpha this evening. If you run a monolithic version of X.Org (ie any
version below 7) on your alpha, then you might be interested in the
"Migrating to Modular X HOWTO". It is available at the following URL:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x/x11/modular-x-howto.xml

If you encounter any bugs, please make a report on http://bugs.gentoo.org

If you do this, please keep everyone posted. I lurk on the Debian Alpha list and folks over there have been having a devil of a time with Xorg 7. Me, I'm short on disk space so I don't even have X installed on my Alpha at the moment......

No, no. I meant that if anyone tries upgrading to 7.1, please tell us all of your experiences ... not if 7.1 is marked stable. ;-)

Ah, okay. I've upgraded 3 systems to 7.1 and haven't had any problems.

What kind of graphics cards did you have in those?

The first one has a DEC TGA2, the second has an ATI Rage, and I'm
unsure about the third. Unfortunately I don't know the exact model for
the ATI card or the third card because I'm in the middle of moving and
those two systems are a few hundred kilometers away.
