I just downloaded but cannot compile. This is my configure:
./configure CFLAGS=-march=athlon64-sse3 --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc/dbmail --with-pgsql --with-sieve=/usr/lib --with-ldap

And the error while "make" is:
make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/apps/dbmail-2.2.11/man'

I removed some lines from " dbmail.conf.txt" and the rest compiles OK, I can live
without the manpage and test 2.2.11 now. Still, needs a fix.

Did nobody else have that problem with 2.2.11?

Nope, but it looks as if you were regenerating the man pages which are
already built in these release tarball.

I ran './configure --with-mysql --with-sieve' on machines which don't
even have xmlto nor asciidoc installed and everything was fine.

Maybe you've got some environment variable set that forces configure to
recreate the man pages?

I tested now on our production dbmail and everything went fine. With
some searching I found the problem. It only happens if you do
make clean
which seems to clear the man pages, and then they have to be
regenerated, which fails.

So the bug is after "make clean" you can't compile because the man pages
sources report a problem. The solution to come around this is to simply
extract the tar again, then you can compile without problems.
Can anybody confirm?

Yes, make clean forces make to recreate the man pages. Though I can't
reproduce your exact error, as I don't have asciidoc available.

As for make clean cleaning out the man pages, it does make sense to me.
They are generated, it's just Paul does this for us so we wouldn't need
to have asciidoc etc installed.

For me too. Still, it should be possible to recreate them, which it
isn't. (for me)

That would have saved me some packages to install :-)
