I am using the CardBook addon
(https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/cardbook/) which
works seamlessly with the latest versions of thunderbird. It's properly
maintained and integrates seamlessly.

I never used the SOGo Connector - support seemed stuck to outdated
versions of thunderbird.
