Problems with /calendar/ and iPhone
Hello!

Today I had time to investigate a problem on my iPhone using the DaviCal server.
I'm using the Davical server since 2008 and sometime during the updates of Davical
or the iPhone iOS something stopped working.

I'm currently using DaviCal 1.1.1-1 on Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS.

As I'm using Thunderbird and Android devices in parallel, I had no emminent need to
investigate the problem earlier, because it did still worked there.

Ok, my problem is, that the calendar isn't shown on the iPhone.

The calendar in Thunderbird is configured to:
http://caldav.intra.mydomain.de/caldav.php/anders/calendar/

The calendar on the iPhone is configured to:
http://caldav.intra.mydomain.de/caldav.php/anders/

If I change the URL to the first (correct) form on the iPhone,
the URL will be changed back to the second one.

I think, if I can force the iPhone to use the correct URL, it would work again.

What is the reason for this?
I did not find anything the newer maillisting posts, but this problem
can be older.

Is there a possibility to give the iPhone additional information to use the /calendar/ in the URL?!

Hi Sven!

It seems to me, that I had the same issue long time ago.

Is that the principal, that makes problems?:
1004 /anders/calendar/ Sven (Privat) Nein [von Prinzipal] Löschen

Is that principal working correct?
2306 /anders/BC7D0AC6-5D45-4D98-9A54-47169D56DD33/ Kalender Nein [von Prinzipal] Löschen

It seems correct, that the iPhone does not want to work with this "nice"-written
prinicipals like /anders/calendar/ .

The best way ist to create the calender using the iPhone. You get a principal
like /anders/BC7D0AC6-5D45-4D98-9A54-47169D56DD33/ . Copy all events to this
calender. Then let all other clients use the principal created by the iPhone.

Yes, this assumption is correct.
But because the other calendar is working in Thunderbird and Android AND this worked before, there
must be another reason, why this does not work any longer.
I want to understand the problem and not circumevent it.

Has anything changed in iOS7/8/9 which I missed, which could be the reason for this?

that's several bugfix releases behind the current version. Since your
problem sounds vaguely familiar, please consider updating to 1.1.4-1
(and awl 0.56-1) before spending too much time on this.

(Those versions of davical and awl will be in the next Ubuntu LTS, but
there seems to be some ongoing work updating PHP to version 7 so maybe
not the best time to become a beta tester on a production system. I
suggest having a look at
http://wiki.davical.org/index.php/Downloading#Older_Ubuntu_.26_Debian_releases
for now.)

Yes there were changes in iOS. I know, that it worked before an upgrade. I'm
not sure, but I think the changes were introduced with iOS8.

But I think it's a good idea to go to Davical 1.1.4-1 as Florian suggested.
This version includes several bugfixes. One is related to your problem.
