XML parsing errors after debian uprade
Hi,

I had davical up and running for years - including working iOS patches etc. Now I updated my server to debian 8 (don’t ask why) and this apparently (re?)-introduced a problem.

One option could be to use the version at https://www.inf-it.com/davical/, but maybe I am on the wrong track, so before I try this I like to ask whether anybody has a clue about how I could fix the problem easily:

Here are the errors I see:

[Mon Jun 01 04:30:02.195957 2015] [:error] [pid 17329] [client 87.162.82.126:53753] davical: ***: ERROR:XML parsing error: Unknown at line 3, column 36
[Mon Jun 01 04:30:02.196020 2015] [:error] [pid 17329] [client 87.162.82.126:53753] davical: ***: ERROR:Error occurred in:\n<supported-calendar-component-set xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:caldav">\n <urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:caldav:comp name="VEVENT"/>\n</supported-calendar-component-set>\n
[Mon Jun 01 04:30:02.196225 2015] [:error] [pid 17329] [client 87.162.82.126:53753] davical: ***: ERROR:XML parsing error: Unknown at line 3, column 28
[Mon Jun 01 04:30:02.196245 2015] [:error] [pid 17329] [client 87.162.82.126:53753] davical: ***: ERROR:Error occurred in:\n<schedule-calendar-transp xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:caldav">\n <urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:caldav:opaque/>\n</schedule-calendar-transp>\n

Here’s the davical version that is installed:

ii davical 1.1.3.1-1 all PHP CalDAV and CardDAV Server

Thank you for any help!

Ulli

Hi Julien,

Thanks - but the database seems to work fine. I could also use the emergency export to create the ics files that are in the db.

Re: XML parsing errors after debian uprade [ In reply to ]
Hi again,

unfortunately nobody seems to have an immediate answer… so I have to try to figure out myself. But I fail at identifying the place where this error is raised – which part of davical is rasing the XML parsing error and what line 3/column 36 is it referring to?

Any help?

Thanks a lot

Unfortunately not realy an answer, but I'm runnung now 2 different
davical-installations, both without any problems (means, I have access from
the Apple-world running Mac OS X or iOS9):
Productive:
Davical 1.1.1 with some recent patches (see
https://tech.rana.at/2014/02/07/patches-fuer-davical-1-1-1/ ) and libawl
0.53-1 and postgresql 8.4
Testing:
Davical 1.1.3.1-1 (same like you) from sid under Debian7 wheezy with libawl
0.55-1 and postgresql 9.1

Christian

Christian,

thanks a lot – at least I am sure now that there is a working setup that I can head for. And in the worst case I’ll just have to re-import the old data.

Thank you
Ulli

Re: XML parsing errors after debian uprade [ In reply to ]
Hi Ulrich,

same problem here. I installed Davical Version 1.1.3.1-1 on a Debian 8.0 system and I am getting the same XML parsing errors.
I am using Postgresql 9.4.

Maybe we should open an issue on Gitlab: https://gitlab.com/davical-project/davical/issues <https://gitlab.com/davical-project/davical/issues>

I am curious what caused it. I expected the Davical version which comes in a Debian package as bug free. Maybe this is the case and some misconfiguration caused it.

Re: XML parsing errors after debian uprade [ In reply to ]
Hi Max,

maybe we should open an issue. However, my database is old and has grown over the years, and I could fix the problem by exporting all calendars (on the server) and re-importing them in new calendars in iTunes. The problem (according to Apple) was that the calendars weren't advertised correctly from Davical… now they are and everything is working fine again.

Maybe that's helpful for you,
All the best
Ulli
