daily.cvd?
I only scanned the emails regarding the new signature distribution mechanism,
so please forgive me if this has already been gone over... :-)

I'm getting:

[root@mark]/home/clamav/clamav-snapshot# /opt/clamav-snapshot/bin/freshclam
ClamAV update process started at Mon Oct 27 23:36:51 2003
Reading CVD header (main.cvd): OK
main.cvd is up to date (version: 2, sigs: 9882, f-level: 1, builder: tkojm)
Reading CVD header (daily.cvd): ERROR: CVD file not found on remote server
ERROR: Can't read daily.cvd header from 203.208.228.153 (203.208.228.153)
Waiting 10 seconds...
...

If I ignore the last part, clamscan and clamd don't seem to be giving me any
problems. Is daily.cvd not being generated yet?

Cheers,
mark

We're testing a new mechanism - database.clamav.net is a round-robin dns
and all mirrors are updated automatically from the main site. At least
theoretically. Thanks for the bug report. Were the next freshclam
attempts (in the same session) successful ?

No, and I'm still getting the problem today:

Do you know of systems where the use of errno is considered bad,
where threading is supported?

Take a look at some user level thread libraries.

Although improved, the behaviour is still being exhibited by the
latest CVS snapshot. What is the problem, exactly? Should I take a
look at the code? It looks as if it tends to work as long as the files
are up-to-date, and sporatically not work, if the file is out-of-date.

Mirrors were desynchronized (and probably lacking some files) yesterday.

Often it will work on the first run, but with the latest cvs update, I
am still seeing (occasionally):

Is this still a bad mirror, or out-of-sync mirror? Can we make the error
message explain this?

I'm sitting at my desk, reconfiguring my network monitor, when the phone rings.
Caller-ID tells me it's Mark Mielke. I pick the receiver up and say:

mirrors are in sync.
I'm seeing the same problem, I believe it's a bug in freshclam.

I tested freshclam with several systems and can't reproduce that error:

ClamAV update process started at Mon Nov 10 21:57:24 2003
Reading CVD header (main.cvd): OK
Downloading main.cvd [*]
main.cvd updated (version: 4, sigs: 9816, f-level: 1, builder: tomek)
Reading CVD header (daily.cvd): OK
Downloading daily.cvd [*]
daily.cvd updated (version: 16, sigs: 315, f-level: 1, builder: tomek)

It works just fine. Maybe you're still running the old version ?
