IOS recommendation for C7201 LNS
Hi,

Does anyone has a recommendation for an IOS for a Cisco 7201 running
as a LNS - very basic VPDN, no MPLS/VRF/QoS (etc).

The current train is 12.2(31)SB - I've seen recommendations for
12.2(33)SRD or SRE.

Cheers,
Matt

We've been running 7200's as LNS for at least the last 5 years on 12.2(33)SRD/E without any major issues that I'm aware of. Multiple vrf's, BGP, OSPF, MPLS plus all of the other stuff you'd have on a box of this role. Over the next year or so we'll probably be migrating to ASR's to replace the 7200's.

I can confirm that 12.2(33)SRE2 is stable for our last two C7200-NPE-G2
LNS systems (uptime is 5 years, 24 weeks, 3 hours, 34 minutes). They run
L2TP/VPDN (but no more then 300 subscribers), OSPF/OSPFv3, MP-BGP, MPLS.

15.2(4)M7 on our 7201's and 03.13.04.S (15.4(3)S4) on our ASR1002-X's.

They all run upto 1k sub's, L2TP/PPP, GRE, GREoIPSEC, MPLS, MP-BGP/VRFs etc.

Cheers,
James.

We're running 12.2(31)SB20 in a similar configuration and it's been very
solid ... 5 years, 9 weeks.
