[VOTE] Release httpd-2.4.50-rc1 as httpd-2.4.50
Hi, all;
Please find below the proposed release tarball and signatures:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/httpd/

I would like to call a VOTE over the next few days to release
this candidate tarball httpd-2.4.50-rc1 as 2.4.50:
[ ] +1: It's not just good, it's good enough!
[ ] +0: Let's have a talk.
[ ] -1: There's trouble in paradise. Here's what's wrong.

The computed digests of the tarball up for vote are:
sha1: afac1bf6aaa84ea2878c56ed56a49f5efdd7ff73 *httpd-2.4.50-rc1.tar.gz
sha256: feb87f9cc60e02782d795d30cd60a36e918c82fe9a2e7363b0ae28a78be9613a *httpd-2.4.50-rc1.tar.gz

The SVN candidate source is found at tags/candidate-2.4.50-rc1.

Kind Regards,
Stefan

Nitpick: This has probably been this way in all previous releases, but
just discovered it when browsing around: The Announcement2.4.* files
says "September 21, 2018" which is odd since it also says Apache HTTP
Server 2.4.50 Released. I suspect the 2018 date is from the first 2.4
release, and has been carried forward since?

So, nothing stopping this release, but should probably go in the
to-fix-list for future relases..

Even less important nitpick: there's a header.html saying these are
pre-release versions, would be nice with a matching server config for
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/httpd/ that also displayed it
:) The .htaccess is browsable (it probably shouldn't be) and seems to
try to achieve this, but obviously isn't used.

+1 for release, thanks for RMing again.

All tests pass on RHEL8. I got a heartbeat.t failure in Fedora 34 which
I haven't looked at but assume it's a test problem since it's a new
test. Otherwise everything passed.

All works fine on OpenBSD-6.9, OpenBSD-7.0 and CentOS8.

All my testing passed on my debian(s) 11 and 10.
Signatures and digests OK.

On ye Solaris 10 SPARC64 boxen again where everything seems to compile
just fine but with OpenSSL 3.0.0 the answer is "nope" :

Not a big surprise.

I shift over to a machine with the OpenSSL 1.1.1 goodness.

It's a template placeholder, it gets copied and changed upon running of
formal release processes

(No, 2.4.0 was released around the start of 2012)

+1: It's not just good, it's good with OpenSSL 1.1.1

On ye SPARC64 Solaris 10 server here it seems to work just fine with
OpenSSL 1.1.1l and of course it does not work ( yet ) with OpenSSL 3.0.0
and we already know that :

beta # /opt/bw/bin/apachectl start
httpd: Syntax error on line 99 of /opt/bw/etc/apache/httpd/httpd.conf:
Cannot load modules/mod_ssl.so into server: ld.so.1: httpd: fatal:
relocation error: file /opt/bw/modules/mod_ssl.so: symbol ERR_GET_FUNC:
referenced symbol not found
beta #

I don't know if trunk is functional and I have not really jumped on
trunk in a few weeks and I'll give that a whirl but autoconf/autoreconf
autotools madness was giving me hardship. At least last time I looked
which was 1893292 about two weeks ago.

Anyways 2.4.50 seems to work just fine with OpenSSL 1.1.1l for me.

Thanks for testing Dennis. We need to get this release out quick due to
regressions, so it wasn't the right moment to apply the OpenSSL patch.

I'm confident, that Joe's OpenSSL 3.0.0 patch will be included in the
next regular 2.4 release.

Best regards,

Rainer

Not a problem at all. I am glad to keep that big Fujitsu/Oracle/Sun
gear running and doing something useful. Given that it is under a nearly
eternal support contract there is good chance that I will be testing
things in that harsh POSIX compliant UNIX world for quite a while.

Hmm, something is off. I can see the .htaccess file in the directory listing.
I suspect a directive is missing in the config.
