This renders web sockets totally unusable in a production environment.
Reloading the service leads to a crash after some time (see
https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=65518).
Can we raise the piority of this request? It's really a "blocker" issue as you
cannot use a normal prod environment (crash on logrotate, etc.).

mod_proxy_wstunnel is deprecated. mod_proxy_http should be used instead. Just
configure a long timeout value for the particular worker in this case.
